A late George II silver oil and vinegar stand by John King, London 1759, shaped oblong with an alternating gadrooned rim and pierced scroll work to the body, on four cast scroll feet, with two removable cut glass bottles, the hinged covers engraved with a worn crest and with an acanthus thumb piece, with leaf-capped scroll handles, scratch engraved Lady F. Balfour beneath, 17cm (6 3/4in) high, the stand 29.5cm (11 1/2in) long, the stand 668g (21.45 oz)

Perhaps Lady Florence Balfour (1779-1862) or Lady Francis Balfour (1858-1931).

Condition Report:
Stand - Maker's mark is partially rubbed, rest clear, one vacant reserve with minor dent, stands well, no splits to the pierced decoration, light scratches and wear commensurate with age and use Bottles - Stamped with clear sterling mark only, both with play to the hinges, engraved crests worn, minor chips to the glass facetted edges
