A late Victorian gold split pearl and seed pearl crescent moon and stars necklace, with near-period old-cut diamond split pearl drop.Length 39.5cms. 23.6gms.With fitted case.
Condition Report: Minimal surface marks.Drop is near period but not original to the necklace. Alterations to the pendant surmount, wear to the gilt finish.Split and seed pearls appear fairly well matched, varied wera and slight discolourations. Seed pearls are oval to pear-shape.Seed pearls untested for natural origin.Estimated diamond weight 0.10ct, H-I colour, P1 clarity.Length of pendant 2.6cms.Electronically tests as approximately 17-19ct gold, presumed interference from gilt finish.Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns. Fellows does not guarantee the standard of gold or platinum unless an item is hallmarked.
