A late Victorian silver punch or rose bowl with twin lion mask handles.

A late Victorian silver punch or rose bowl, the circular form with applied rim border above twin lion mask and drop ring handles, lobed decoration to the lower body and raised on a spread foot. Hallmarked Walter & John Barnard, London 1880. Rim diameter 11.5" (29cm), weight 38.82 ozt (1207.6 grams.)

Condition Report:
- Displaying general surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.
- Some general minor surface dints throughout.
- Likely engraving removal to one side above the girdle. Metal feels thinner in some areas and surface a little uneven.
- Interior with some heavier scratches and contact marks to the base and also an impression visible from the join of the foot.
- Foot slightly pushed up into body. Also with slight knock to rim edge.
- Residues of polish to some areas.
- Some surface wear and rubbing to the lion masks bit still retaining much of the detail.
- Hallmarks located below the rim to one side of a lion mask, these lightly rubbed but still clear and legible.
- Lion passant struck to both ring handles.
- Impressed number to base 940 and further scratched out marks.
