A lovely Roman bronze figural latch

A lovely Roman bronze figural latch, c. 1st - 4th Century AD, with repatination, in the form of a male bust with nicely incised features and closely cropped hair. The lower part of the latch is decorated with incised geometric decoration and the piece is complete with loop at top and square locking plate at bottom. L: 6 3/8 in (16.2 cm). The piece appears to have been modernly repatinated giving the surface an attractively smooth appearance and light green color. Ex Los Angeles private collection.
