en marqueterie de noyer, bois noirci, amandier et érable, à décor d'armoiries d'alliances entourées de rinceaux, le couvercle orné d'une allégorie du Tibre d'après le modèle antique redécouvert à Rome en 1512, les angles à tête de femme avec des éléments restaurés

Condition Report:
The illustrations are accurate. Good overall condition despite the inevitable minor dents and scratches due to age and use. A very few minute traces of old and inactive woodworm. Few minor losses to the parquetry. Both areas around the hinges are broken due to the weight of the lid. The lock is missing, and the interior is lined with a later velvet. The keyhole has been modified. With the inscription "Château de Verteuil Charente" under the base.
