A mid-18th century English unmarked silver and enamel etui, circa 1760
Of tapering oval form, with chased decoration of C scrolls and rocaille against a fish scale background. The front and back with an enamel plaque of a waisted rectangular form, painted with a scene of a Shepard and shepherdess against a bucolic background, reserved in white C scrolls and lattice work against a green ground. The interior fitted with a fruit knife with chased handle, a snuff spoon, two bodkins, a pair of scissors, stylus, ivory memoire slide, a pencil lead holder, a assembled fork and knife with hollow octagonal handle.
