Hamilton Watch Co., Lancaster, Penn., a mid 20th century Hamilton 4992B with unusual dial in a mahogany deck watch box, 16 size, 22 jewels, stem wind and set, damascened nickel plate movement with lever escapement and whiplash micrometric regulator in a coin silver, screw back and bezel open face case, arabic numeral 24 hour silvered and black painted day/ night dial with white painted spade and poker hands, the hand tips and night portion of the dial with luminous compound, serial #4C78711, contained in a mahogany deck watch box with viewing aperture and shock mount
Condition Report: CASE: Dents, band and bezel; Dings; Very fine scratches on outer surface of case; Inside of case back with minor scuffing; Case back thread with a few tight spots; Bow a bit loose; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: A few fine scratches; Minor tarnish and discoloration. HANDS: Good. MOVEMENT PLATES: Scattered, very fine scratches on plate; One fine scratch concentric with case screw; Sweep seconds cock with pin pricks; Ratchet wheel with a few specks of oxide; Regulator assembly with a few specks of oxide; Screw heads with minor marring. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks). Box good, with minor dings and scratches; Felt lining replaced, circa 1942
