A mid 20th century platinum sapphire and diamond bow
A mid 20th century platinum sapphire and diamond bow brooch. Estimated total old-cut diamond weight 4.50 to 5cts, H-K colour, predominantly VS-SI clarity. Length 7.4cms. 36gms.
Condition Report: Overall condition good.
Diamonds well matched.
Diamonds bright.
Diamonds appear predominantly VS-SI clarity, few P1 clarity, few with small chips.
Majority of the smaller diamonds are rose-cut.
Sapphires fairly well matched, with slightly varied hues and saturations, from a deep, fairly dark slightly violet blue to lighter blue.
Sapphires in good condition with minor abrasions.
Width 4cms.
Brooch tests as platinum with base metal pin fitting.
Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
