A mid 20th century sapphire and diamond bombé ring, with an oval mixed cut sapphire claw set within two tiers of marquise and pear cut diamonds, to form a floral cluster. The gallery with a series of leaf panels all pavé set with graduated circular cut diamonds. Tapering wirework shoulders into a grooved band with two sizing beads. Combined diamond weight estimated as 4.50 to 5.00ct. Mount tested as approximately 18ct gold, 17.14g Ring size L (with sizing beads) Provenance: Maurice 'Dick' Turpin, Barons Keep, London W14. Estimated as approximately 3.10 -3.50ct The gem has a deep twilight blue colour, with angular bands and minor inclusions indicating a natural origin. Diamonds well matched, bright and lively. Light marks to mount, commensurate with its age. The shank shows evidence of resizing.
