A mid Victorian garnet brooch.

Of oval form, centring an oval shape-garnet within rope-twist and engraved layered surrounds, glazed panel to the reverse, stamped 15ct, length 4.5cm.
Condition Report: Weight approx. 12.4g. Overall good to fair condition. Surface scratches, discolouration and dents in keeping with general age and wear. Cracking to the inner side of the brooch, near applied rope twist. Garnet in good condition. Fairy dark, probably due to closed back setting. Original brooch fitting.
