A mid Victorian gold diamond and garnet brooch. Of circular outline, the old and rose-cut diamond star, set atop the circular garnet cabochon, with bead and rope-twist geometric surround and snake-link fringe. Principal diamond estimated weight 0.20ct, J-K colour, P1 clarity. Length 7.3cms. Weight 24.1gms. With unassociated case.
Condition Report: Overall condition good. Minor surface scratches/wear in keeping with general age and wear.
One strand of the fringe has been repaired, only partially articulated, discolouration and soft solder visible.
Probable replacement pin.
Glazed panel to reverse.
Diamond fairly well matched, principal diamond appears to draw more colour.
Diamonds fairly bright.

Individual size and setting of rose-cut diamonds prevents accurate weight estimation and colour and clarity assessment.

Diamonds with some small dark inclusions.
Garnet is presumed foil-back, appears a dark, deep red hue, with good clarity and typical inclusions.

Garnet in good condition with minor abrasions.

Width 3.7cms.
Please see the Important Notices for Purchasers for coloured gemstones.

Condition reports are offered as a guide only and we highly recommend inspecting any lot to satisfy yourself as to its condition.
