A mid Victorian gold diamond, split pearl and enamel

A mid Victorian gold diamond, split pearl and enamel memorial locket. Of oval outline, with rose-cut diamond, split pearl and blue enamel star to one side, the foliate engraved reverse with monogrammed shield cartouche, opening to reveal a glazed compartment with woven lock of hair and personal engraving dated 1868. Length 4.8cms. Weight 19gms.
Condition Report: Overall condition good. Slight wear in keeping with general age and minimal wear.
Diamonds fairly bright and well matched.
Cut, individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate weight, colour or clarity assessment.

Varied inclusions, some minor abrasion.
Split pearls well matched.
Monogram reads JLW. Personal engraving to the mount of the glazed interior reads: 'Mary Wright born Oct. 20th 1085. died Dec'r13th 1868'.
Possible locket compartment to other side, deficient glass.
Star secured with enamel to reverse.
