A mid Victorian gold reverse intaglio stick pin. The circular rock crystal cabochon, carved and painted to depict a hound, with rope-twist surround, to the reverse inscribed 'From The Duchess Athole, 23 June 1860, Volt. Review, W. E.'. Length 9.8cms. Weight 6.9gms.
Condition Report
Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear. Possible alterations may have occurred to the piece. Some slight damage and dents to rock crystal surround. Intaglio rotates slightly within the mount. Painting in good condition with some small patches of flaking. 'of' has been later scratch engraved into the inscription to read 'Duchess of Athole'. Diameter of stick pin head 2.1cms.
