A mid – late 18th century Dutch colonial silver brazier, possibly Batavian circa 1740-80
of oval form with everted and overturned edge, raised on four lion paw feet with lion mask junctions. A fluted underside, to top with flat chased decoration of rosette lattice work reserved in strap work and scroll cartouches, conjoined by foliate scrolls with scallop shell centre. Unmarked except for a later French control mark for at minimum 800 standard (used 1864-1893).

Weight – 266 grams / 8.55 ozt
