A mid/late 19th century pearl and diamond-set necklace
the front section comprising old-cut diamond and seed pearl festoons alternating with half pearl-set star links and centring on a pearl and diamond cluster suspending a detachable slightly baroque ovoid pearl with diamond-set cap, to the knife-edge bar link back chain with alternating diamond and diamond collets, with later trace link chain extensions, silver and yellow gold setting, fitted leather case with impressed continental crown to the interior silk
necklace length 39cm; pearl drop length (including cap) 19.3 mm, width 8.1mm, 1.72g
Condition: Overall condition good, commensurate with age. Diamond-set cusped centres to each of the festoons possibly later addition. Pearl drop slightly baroque, good lustre to front, minor brownish blemish and greyish welt to reverse
Offered with a report numbered 5781-1728, dated 18 March 2024 from the Gemmological Certification Services, London, stating that the pearl drop is natural saltwater with no indication of treatment
