A most rare sculpture of Saint Michael the Archangel slaying Satan - Baroque - Plaster, Wood - Second half 18th century

[ translate ]

- Central Spain (Most probably) - Lacking several parts. At Montbaron we don't consider restoring antiques, due to our strict conservation policy. - The head and arms of Saint Michael seem to be solid wood, while most of the rest is made out of painted stucco, glued fabrics, and so on. - Couldn't be rarer. Sculptures of Saint Michael slaying the dragon are very scarce, and so the National Museum of Sculpture of Spain put them in spotlight last year with a comprehensive exhibition about statues of demons. - Fair condition, with minor damage. - 58 x 34 x 19 cm - Private collection in Madrid.
