A pair Roman/Byzantine bronze finials, c. 4th 0 7th Century AD, the first a stopper for an unguent bottle surmounted by a peacock, H: 4.4 cm, the other perhaps the terminal from a hair pin with a pine-cone atop a spool-shaped element, H: 3.9 cm. Both attractively patinated. Ex New York private collection.
