A pair of Aesthetic Movement grey painted and parcel giltwood stools, last quarter 19th century, Probably American, of square tapered form, each with a leather upholstered seat above the base, each side with carved decoration, the supports at the angles and united by stretchers, 50cm high, the tops 34cm squareCondition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions consistent with age and use,Some old splits and cracks, The painted surface with wear, scratches, and flaking through to the underlying timber, this appears to be oak, the interiors with painted too, apart from the seat rails which are largely bare wood but with some overlapping with the paint this is not visible when they are in use or standing in a room. One chair with some stains to the interior of one leg - this may benefit from a clean but Dreweatts make no guarantees how easy this may be to remove sympathetically.The leather with some wear and cracking to the surface but overall this appears to be intact with no holes through to the stuffing beneathThe frames appear to be solid and stable overall Condition Report Disclaimer
