A pair of Catalan foiled hessonite garnet earrings, c.1800,
with a cushion-shaped domed boss top, Roman set with a cushion-shaped garnet. Hand engraved fleur-de-lys decoration with a crimped border, a trefoil of garnets above with a plain plaque above. A detachable pierced foliate plaque below, Roman set with graduated garnets and a detachable pear-shaped boss below, with a detachable trefoil of garnets below that. Domed closed back settings with incised and textured decoration, hinged Continental fittings. Marks unidentified. Some gemstones deficient. Tested as approximately 18ct gold. 132mm long, 27mm wide, 41.88g (2)
