A pair of Charles II caved walnut armchairs, circa 1670, the pierced and foliate carved top rail centred by a putti, above the caned back flanked by barley twist supports and downswept scrolling arms, the caned seat on barley twist legs incorporating flowerhead terminals, joined by a pieced and foliate carved stretcher centred by a putti at the front, each 118cm high, 62cm wide, 55cm deep Provenance: Waystrode Manor, KentCondition Report: Both with marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Some old splits, chips and losses. Evidence of old worm throughout. Caning replaced but has age, one seat with some breaks. Feet are later replacements. Of cleaned appearance. Some movement within frames. One top rail with old repair to one side of the back. Filler has been used to help disguise. Later screw to the rear of the splats.
