Note: Li Bai (701-762) was a Tang dynasty poet, acclaimed both during his life and in the present day as supremely skilled poet, and his poems were models for celebrating the pleasures of friendship, the depth of nature, solitude, and, of course, the joys of drinking wine. Along with his friend Du Fu (712-770), the pair were at the forefront at what is now regarded as the 'Golden Age of Chinese Poetry'.
