A pair of Chinese famille rose 'Wu Shuang Pu' hexagonal vases
Qing dynasty, 19th century
Each enamelled with two heroes from the famous compendium, one on each of the main faces, accompanied by the description of their deeds on each of the short sides, with floral decorations on the slender neck and blue-enamelled floral borders at the foot, the bases left unglazed, each 29.5cm high (2).

Condition Report:
The vase with Fu Sheng and Liang Gong: extensive restoration and overpainting around mouth and neck, with overpainting to approx. half the mouth going down to half the neck; at least one infilled chip to the other side of the mouth and a long hairline running from rim to the shoulder of Liang Gong.
The other vase also with some restoration and overpainting to the neck and around the rim, particularly to the exterior of all four of the short sides, up to the shoulder.
Both ahve expected firing imperfections including pitting and some warping, and old wear with some rubbing and flaking to enamels.
