Kangxi (1662-1722), each of rounded form with a flared rim, painted with blossoming branches in straw and amber against a mottled-green ground, a seal mark to base,
19 and 19.5cm diameter, wood stands (4)

Provenance: From the collection of the late Surgeon Captain J A Forrest RN.

Surgeon Captain J A Forrest RN (1871-1953) served with the China fleet between 1899 and 1919, during which time he formed a collection of Chinese porcelain. After his death, the collection was bequeathed to his daughter who gifted thirteen items from the collection to the Victorian & Albert museum on 13 October 1954. This pair of Kangxi bowls on stands were retained by the family and came thence by descent.
