A pair of Continental, probably Italian bronze models of warriors in Grecian style
A pair of Continental, probably Italian bronze models of warriors in Grecian style, circa 1900, both portrayed as nude but for light drapery, carrying round shields, one with a shortsword and one a spear; both on rectangular marmo rouge griotte socles
29 and 44cm high respectively, 30cm long
Condition Report: Both bronzes are in basically good order, bearing just the usual minor knocks and scuffs overall consistent with age and use.
It should be noted that each bronze has been cast as separate entities which have been put together, and that some of these elements are loose. In the figure on one knee the torso and head lift away from the diagonal torso strap. The torso sits very snugly in place with a lug and socket, but can be simply lifted off. It is held by gravity, but could presumably be simply refixed. There are traces of old glue at the join. The spear is also separately cast and loose. It is not bronze, but some other white metal alloy.
There is no movement in the separately cast elements of the other model, of the figure lying on the ground.
Both bronzes have a mottled mid to dark brown patina.
The bases are also in basically good order, again just bearing just the usual minor knocks overall consistent with age and use.
