A pair of Copenhagen silver Rococo candelabra

Each with a waisted baluster shaft with finely chased and embossed floral and rocaille decor on a round, scalopped base with corresponding decor. The separate candelabra each with three twisted branches and flowering tendril decor. The foot with an applied "EA" monogram beneath the Hannover crown. With a Fideikommiss engraving "FA Fs" to the underside. H ca. 23/36 cm, total weight 2,685 g.

From a European aristocratic collection.

According to family tradition, this exceptional work by the Copenhagen goldsmith was originally intended as an addition to the Augsburg dinner silver at the court of the Danish King Frederick V. The pieces came into possession of the royal house of Hannover through the marriage of Princess Thyras of Denmark to Ernst August, Crown Prince of Hannover and Duke of Cumberland in 1878. When his grandson Ernst August III married Princess Victoria Louise of Prussia in 1913, the candelabra were given to the couple as a wedding gift.
