A pair of Empire style gilt-bronze mounted fossilized grey marble columns,
late 19th / early 20th century

surmounted with patinated bronze reductions of the Pacing Bull after Giambologna and a pacing horse, the shaft raised on a yellow and pink marble square base with a gilt-bronze wreath
90cm. high

Condition Report:
In overall good restored condition. Minor old marks, scratches and chipping to edges, all consistent with age and use. Column with bull: Since there is some residual glue, it appears there were two breaks to the bottom of the grey marble shaft, these are now repaired and the shaft is securely attached to the base. One minor crack to the moulded top edge of the yellow marble base. Column with horse: The section with the horse, shaft and 3/4 of the base are slightly loose from the bottom of the stepped base. Although securely attached to the base, this would benefit from further attention.

Provenance:
Christie's Paris, 500 ans: Arts Décoratifs Européens Paris, 7th November 2012, lot 394.
