A pair of George I silver trencher salts, each of conventional waisted and octagonal form with engraved crest depicting the upper body of a rampant lion holding a crown, gilded interior. Hallmarked London 1723 and attributed to Glover Johnson. Base length measuring 3 1/4 inches (8.2 cm), weight 3.56 ozt (110.8 grams). In poor condition and in need of attention. Both displaying splits, holes, dints and repairs. One with more notable damage. There is some rubbing and distortion to hallmarks but mostly still legible. The maker's mark can be found in both Grimwade and Jackson.
