These are the arms of Revd. James Thomas JONES (1755-1835) of Merion Square, Dublin, Rector of Urney in the diocese of Derry who in 1787 married his first wife was Lydia WOLFE (died 1793) the daughter and co-heir of Theobald WOLFE a barrister of Forenoughts Co. Kildare. He was the younger son of Rt. Hon. Theophilus JONES (1725-1811) of Headford Co. Leitrim, Ireland, MP for Lietrim Co. and later Coleraine by Catherine BERESFORD (1733-1763), after their marriage in 1754. James Thomas and Lydia had six children.
After Lydia's death in 1793, Revd. James Thomas JONES in 1796 married Anne BLACKWOOD (died 1827).
The family are descendants of Bryan JONES (1600-1671) later of Dublin, who was granted land there in 1662. He was born in Dol-y-moch, Festintiniog, Merionethshire, Wales.
