A pair of George III carved giltwood armchairs, circa 1790, after a design by Robert Adam, the moulded frame incorporating bellflower terminals, each padded rectangular back surmounted by an arched cresting rail centred by a carved patera motif, each cushioned seat flanked by padded downswept arms, each tablet moulded seat rail above square section tapering legs

Provenance: Private collection, Cheshire.

Provenance: Purchased by the current owner from Apter-Fredricks in 1997

Condition Report:
Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Some old minor chips and splits. Gilding has been 'refreshed' at some point. Evidence of old worm to the undersides of seat rails. Chips, rubbing and some losses to gilt elements. Some faint dark lines/marks to each seat but upholstery is in generally fair order overall. Some old screw holes to the backs of the the seat rails (see images). Please refer to additional images for visual reference to condition.
