A pair of George III silver twin-handled open salts with matched spoons.

A pair of George III silver open salts, each of circular twin-handled form to a spread footed base, with gilt interior and foliate and gadroon rim above lobed decoration, with further foliate detail to handles and engraved crest to base, hallmarked Daniel Pontifex, London 1806 and 1807. Together with a pair of Fiddle, Shell & Thread pattern condiment spoons, hallmarked Richard Crossley & George Smith IV, London 1811. Total weight 11.88 ozt (369.5 grams).

Condition Report:
- Salts are of a good heavy gauge.
- All pieces displaying some general surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing commensurate with their age and use.
- Some minor surface dints and nicks.
- Heavier tarnishing/dirt to some areas and residues of previous polish, especially to crevices.
- Some slight cracks around handle joins.
- One of the salts with floods of solder visible around the inner rim of the foot join.
- Hallmarks located to underside of each salt, these all in good order with some minor rubbing.
- Both with engraved crest next to hallmarks, depicting a rampant lion on a crown.
- Both salt spoons with some heavier surface wear and marks to bowls, gilding a little faded and some slight dints.
- Engraved crests below shell terminal, these heavily rubbed.
- Hallmarks with surface rubbing but all legible.
