Footnote: The curved, padded yoke crestrails of these chairs derive from early 18th century Georgian library reading chairs. Period examples often had a folding reading ledge on the back and retractable candleholders to the sides. As these chairs were shown in renderings of cockfights in the 18th century, the form also came to be known as a cockfighting chair.
Condition Report: Structurally sound. General marks, scratches, rubbing and wear to decoration, notably to feet and scuffs to upholstery. Upolstery with some cracking in areas, notably to seats (more to one than other) as visible in catalogue photos.
