A pair of Italian carved giltwood console tables, Rome, mid-18th...

[ translate ]

the associated sienna and verde antico veneered marble slabs, on scrolling legs with strapwork and grotesque mask decoration, joined by scroll and foliate carved 'X' stretchers, alterations

85cm high, 102cm wide, 75cm deep; 2ft. 9 ½in., 3ft. 4 ⅛in., 2ft. 5 ½in.

Condition Report:
In overall good restored condition and ready to place.
The associated marble tops with circuits of black eroded marble lines as should be visible from the images. These lines since they appear to not go through the whole marble top would not suggest breaks, but rather have to do with the construction of the top layer of marble. Some scuffs and chipping along the edges and corners as to be expected. Minor scattered refills.
Bases generally with minor old marks, scuffs and scratches consistent with age and use. Minor age craquelure and rubbing and losses to gilding as to expected, however none of these are too distracting.
There are signs of repaired breaks including to the front left leg of each, to the tip of a moulding. Loss of a scroll to the back right leg of one. Losses to the tip of mouldings towards the front right handside of the stretcher of each base.
Evidence of an old woodworm activity (see for example damages to stretchers and feet) but it no longer appears to be active.
Probably altered in height, formerly with a frieze, and width.
