A pair of Italian patinated bronze models of Mercury and Flora
A pair of Italian patinated bronze models of Mercury and Flora, late 19th century, the former cast after Giambologna, portrayed as nude and held aloft on a Nimbus; the latter similarly posed, atop stepped, circular Siena marble bases
47cm high
Condition Report: Both items bear the usual very minor scuffs and knocks overall consistent with age. The patina in each case is a dark brown/green, lightening at exposed areas.
Various parts of the bronzes were cast as separate elements and then fixed together, which is of course entirely normal. Clean, straight join lines are therefore evident at the upper arms and thighs of both models.
The marble bases are also very minorly knocked and chipped consistent with age, but generally speaking the lot is in good shape.
The items are of late 19th century make, as catalogued.
