Catalogue note:
These candlesticks bear a strong similarity to a pair held at the Wallace Collection (number F76), which are described in the Collection's furniture catalogue as being in the style associated with the Brothers Slodtz, the design bearing 'a general resemblance to a pen-and-ink drawing for a candlestick by one of the brothers Slodtz, which is now in the Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris.'
