A pair of Meissen porcelain figural sweetmeat baskets, late 19th century, blue crossed swords marks, incised numerals, black 43. marks, modelled as a young man and a young woman reclining by large oval pierced baskets, on plinth bases edged with pink, gilt and turquoise moulded scrolls, 29cm wide (2) Provenance: Works of Art from the Schroder Collection.
The handles are lacking from the basket which is held by the man, and one handle is lacking from the basket held by the woman. There is some minute chipping to the flower and foliate terminals of the handles, but this is very minor indeed. In addition, there is some minute chipping to the edge of the footrim of both figures – this is also very minor.
