A pair of Spanish silver five light candelabra by José Ramírez de Arellano, La Coruña 1844, assay master J. Vazquez, with fixed octagonal sconces to the campana shaped capitals with foliate bases, foliate 'drip pans', four scroll branches, octagonal tapering stems, on fluted columns, the conical bases with an arcaded band and one of flowers and foliage, 53cm (20 3/4in) high, 4666g (150 oz)

Arellano was based in Madrid from 1844 to 1883 and was the director of the Real Platería Martínez and silversmith to Isabel II, Amadeo I de Saboya and to Alfonso XII.
