A pair of Staffordshire porcelain vases
Late 19th/early 20th century; Staffordshire, England
Marked for Old Hall Porcelain Works Ltd. / England
Two trompe l'oeil, dual handled ceramic vases, each with a texture mimicking ivory and pink ruched fabric, gilt braided trim, and gilt lace overlay, 2 pieces
Each: 15.75" H x 6" Dia.
Old Hall Porcelain Works Ltd, Old Hall Pottery, Hanley, Staffordshire Potteries, was in operation from 1886-1902. Formerly Old Hall Earthenware Co. Ltd from 1884. The same printed trademark was used by both companies with 'England' added in 1891.
Condition Report: Each overall good condition with shelf wear, scattered minor scuffs, scratches, and inherent firing flaws commensurate with age. One repaired chip on the foot of one vase with retouching in gold paint. Each vase with rubbed wear to the gilt finish on the handles. Condition reports are offered as a courtesy and are typically published in Moran's catalogue or can be made available upon request. The absence of a condition report does not imply that an item is free from defects or restoration, nor does a reference to particular defects imply the absence of others. Buyers are responsible for determining to their own satisfaction the true nature and condition of any lot prior to bidding. Though buyers are not legally required to inspect lots prior to purchase, failure to do so may constitute a waiver of complaint that an item was not delivered in a condition equal to the existent condition at the auction.
