A pair of carved pierre du Bourgogne limestone garden seats, 19th century, designed as cushions on plinths, each with tassels to the corners, with rectangular section waisted plinths, 40cm high, 82cm wide, 50cm deepProvenance: Château de Thézieu, north Isère region of France Bidders from the UK and outside of the European Union should be aware that additional import charges may applyCondition Report: Each with marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions, consistent with age and use, there are cracks and irregularities as to be expected with items of this nature made from a natural product, there are chips and losses around the bases. The tassels to the front of the seats appear to be carved from a separate piece of stone that is inserted into the main body via the square sockets, there is a slight gap in this area however all is holding securely at time of report. Mr. Jonker informs us that the tassels were replacements made from donor stone taken from the undersides of the stools and are therefore made from the same substance as the remainder of the stools. The slight gaps mentioned above could be filled by Mr. Jonker if the purchaser wished.The top side of one seat with area of more pronounced weatheringThe rear of these are rougher hewn and 'unfinished' these were designed to sit against a wall and not be free standingPlease refer to additional images for visual reference to conditionCondition Report Disclaimer
