A pair of early Victorian silver and ivory handled fish servers, the pierced scroll blade with twin opposed engraved cartouches of a man fishing and two fishes overlapping, the tines with similarly pierced and bright-cut engraved foliate decoration, both with an engraved initial and carved ivory handles depicting oriental style koi carp hunting amongst reeds and leaves, contained within a fitted case. Hallmarked John Oxley, Sheffield 1856. Length of knife measuring 12 6/8 inches (32.4 cm). In good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Both engraved with the initial 'H'. Slight crease along the edge of the knife blade. Some minor discolouration to the ivory handles. The ferrules are of an oval shape and the ends of the tines/blade are of a rounded oblong shape, this causes the pieces to overlap slightly at the join, the ferrules are not marked and possibly been replaced. Some minor scuffs and marks to the top of the fitted case, heavier contact marks to the bottom and an area of white residue. Hallmarks clear and legible.
