A pair of exceptional South German vanitas

Framed watercolour and ink on paper, behind glass. One sheet depicting Death claiming a poor soul, together with Chronos and his attributes, clipping Cupid's wings, and a nun at prayer. The tableau set in an interior. The other sheet of paper also showing Death, but in a landscape, with a wreath of flowers and an angel, capturing various people in his net as he sends them on their "ascension into heaven". Minimal damage due to age. The paper sheets with a slightly wavy appearance. Restored. In a fine, glazed, partially gilt frame.
