each of tapered baluster form rising to a tall waisted neck set with a pair of stylised chilong handles, the necks decorated with flowering peony branches, the bodies enamelled with a large panel framing two scholar-officials and an attendant in a domestic setting on one vase, and two scholars and their attendants in a garden setting on the second vase, all enclosed by classic scroll borders, and above an integral iron-red and gilt stand

Examination under UV light shows that on the tip of one handle is restored on one vase, and a ca. 0.5 cm shallow chip to one side and a ca. 0.8 cm chip to the glaze just below, and a minute chip to the rim of the base. On the same vase UV light reveals an area of overspraying behind one handle on the back of the vase. The second vase in overall good condition. Both vases with light wear to the enamels.
