A pair of gilt silver Yemenite filigree (Shumaylat) bridal bracelets - Sana'a, Yemen 1900-1950

The Shumaylat bracelets are made of the finest filigree work typical of the finest Jewish silversmiths of San'a. Granulated balls and trapezoidal cuts of silver decorate the surface of the bracelet. The bracelets closure is inset with turqouise. The closures are secured by double lock and screw closures.

* These bracelets were given as a dowry to the Yemenite bride by her father or as a wedding gift by her groom. They were worn at her wedding and also at the reception following the birth of a baby. They were usually worn in pairs by the wealthier woman in the central cities.

condition report: Very Good. small dents to the inner part. both have a problem with the screw.
