A pair of giltwood and tapestry upholstered fauteuil, in Louis XV style, 19th century, the frames carved with foliage and scrolls throughout, each shaped and padded back flanked by padded open arms, the shaped tapering padded seat on tapering cabriole legs terminating in scroll feet, each 102cm, 80cm wide, 70cm deep

Condition Report:
Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Various chips, small losses and rubbing and wear to gilt elements. The lowest part of the central terminal of the front seat rail of both chairs is lacking (see images) Gilding appears to have been refreshed in areas. Upholstery with some wear, pulls, loose threads and fraying (see images for extent). Some tacks to the borders of the upholstery lacking. One seat with areas of slight discolouration and evidence of an old water stain at the centre (see images) Both chairs of solid structure overall. Later springs and webbing. Dark fabric covering the undersides/webbing of each chair has been removed and strands of this fabric remain to the rails. Later supporting blocks of timber to the undersides of both chairs. Fabric to the backs of each chair is later. This has been secured to the frame using glue, areas have become detached and glue has caused the fabric to crack and fray in places.
