A pair of lacquer boxes of hokai type. 19th century
Standing on four square and splayed legs, the body with horizontal ribs and a slightly domed lid. Decorated in gold hiramaki-e with mons of the katabami and kikyô type amidst leafy scrolls. At the feet and rims gilt copper fittings with similar motif on nanako. Inside and to the base black lacquer. Each with a tasselled cord. (2)
