A pair of late Victorian silver open salts with spoons & a cased pair of Edwardian silver open salts with matched spoons.

A pair of late Victorian silver open salts and spoons, of quatrefoil form with shaped rim, embossed floral and scroll motifs and raised upon four feet, the spoons with gadrooned terminal borders, hallmarked E S Barnsley & Co (Edward Souter Barnsley), maximum width of salt measures 2 7/8 inches (7.5 cm). Together with a cased pair of Edwardian silver open salts, each of hexagonal form with silver-gilt interiors and applied pierced rim, hallmarked Joseph Gloster, Birmingham 1901, plus a matched pair of Edwardian silver salt spoons of Albany pattern, hallmarked William Hutton & Sons Ltd., London 1902. Gross weight 4.2 ozt (131.8 grams). In good overall condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Construction seams visible on the Victorian salts, gilding appears a little dull to the interior of the salts and bowls of the spoons. Possible small solder repair to the interior corner of one of the Edwardian salts. Hallmarks slightly rubbed in places but majority still legible.
