A pair of white-glazed 'dragon' bottle vases,

清十八世紀 白釉堆塑螭龍小瓶一對
each pear-shaped body rising from a short tapering foot to a tall flaring neck, applied around the neck with a freely-modelled sinuous chilong and covered overall with a translucent creamy-white glaze

Condition Report:
Left vase with a bruise on the rim; and a glaze pool above the foot being lightly buffed. Minor firing imperfections, such as a tiny glaze crackle where the sprig joins the chilong's mouth (left vase); and an original firing line on the chilong's body (right vase). Occasional microscopic glaze nicks and general surface scratches.
左瓶口沿見一小磕痕;足上方一聚釉處經輕磨。正常窰燒微瑕,如左瓶銜芝處見一細小片紋,及右瓶龍身一小窰線。正常器面磨痕,偶見數點釉面剝痕。

Acquired from Edward T. Chow (1910-80) in the late 1960s.
