A palace scene, Kangra, Punjab Hills, second quarter of the 19th century, opaque pigments heightened with gold on paper, the painting divided in three scenes each with the main character a male figure dressed in green, possibly Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Sikh Guru, known for having had a blue horse, the first scene depicts a woman kneeling in saffron coloured robes with female attendants behind, a series of rooms within the palace walls and central courtyard where two of her female attendants plead with the same figure who shuns their attentions, below the male figure rides away from the palace on his blue mount, with 27ll. of black and red text to reverse, mounted and framed, painting 22.6 x 33cm.
