A platinum diamond and invisible-set ruby flexible bracelet.

Exceptionally well-crafted, flexible cocktail bracelet with an integrated tongue clasp, fully set in the so-called “serti mystérieux” technique with 288 square princess-cut rubies (approx. 61.62 ct), alternating with nine diamond-set bands (a total of 48 princess-cut diamonds weighing approx. 10.58 ct, G/H, VVS/VS). Hallmarks: Fineness 950/Pt, unidentified maker’s mark, gemstone weights. The clasp catch stamped “Or”. Length 17.5 cm. Width 2.0 cm. Weight 107.60 g.
1980s.

The highly sophisticated and labour-intensive setting technique known as “serti invisible” or “invisible setting” requires exceptional precision and craftsmanship. Each gemstone is individually cut to exact dimensions so that it fits seamlessly alongside the other stones and is secured within an invisible wire framework. The gemstone surfaces appear to float, uninterrupted by visible settings. This Haute Joaillerie technique was perfected by the Parisian Maison Van Cleef & Arpels and patented in 1933.
