A post 1902 officer’s lance cap of the 9th (Queen’s Royal) Lancers, black patent leather skull, peak and top, gilt mounts including simulated ropework headband mount with central Lancers boss and plume mount with black and white horsehair, rosettes in top corners, velvet backed beaded link chinchain and lion’s head ear bosses, the rayed plate bearing Arms and supporters, regimental title, 16 battle honours to South Africa 1899-1902 and AR monogram, evidence of red colouring, leather lining.
