A pre-war Hornby No. 4 'Venture' clockwork Limousine Boat, manufactured by Meccano Ltd., Liverpool, circa 1935–39, of painted pressed-tinplate construction, green, cream and orange, the removable cabin/canopy assembly is absent, exposing the clockwork mechanism and its winding spindle, approximately 450 mm long × 90 mm wide.* The No. 4 Venture was marketed by Hornby as its 'Limousine Boat', forming part of Meccano's celebrated range of British-made clockwork pond boats of the 1930s.
